Inspired by Shakespeare's work, Nebraska Shakespeare creates professional productions and accessible programs that engage, educate and entertain throughout the year.
Our yearly programs begin with "Shakespeare On The Silverscreen" in February/March. April 23rd is "Talk Like Shakespeare Day" celebration in Omaha and the beginning of submissions for our "Annual Anne Dittrick Sonnet Writing Contest." Our jewel in the crown event "Shakespeare On The Green" is a community favorite & free to the public, in June & July. Professional theatre in an outdoor setting, just South of UNO's Bell Tower. Preshow "Scholars Forums," seminars where you can meet and speak with the artists and scholars who work together to create our summer Shakespeare productions. "Shakesperience!" for interactive activities for young people. Wining Sonnets are published in our Souvenir Program and read nightly to our audiences. We take education on the road with "Shakespeare On Tour" throughout Nebraska in October. In November we offer free to the public, our "Director's Reading" exploring the signature lines, major moments, and compelling characterizations of Shakespeare's lesser known works.

Nebraska Shakespeare depends on volunteers to make our season successful. Please contact us for more information

"Nebraska Shakespeare on the Green has been a family summer tradition. The educational programs are motivational in design, substantial in operation, beneficial in outcome and worthy of support and attendance. The plays are always high quality, presented with creativity and excellence, and entertaining for those novice or experienced."
