Nebraska Wind Symphony

For over 40 years, the Nebraska Wind Symphony has proudly been Omaha's community concert band. Our talented instrumentalists come from all walks of life to perform exceptional concerts of great wind and percussion literature for the enjoyment of young and old. Each year our season highlights include middle school all-stars, scholarship/concerto award winner, guest soloists and conductors, and great programming of band standards, marches, and exciting new works for band.

Community Band Festival of the Midlands, June 30 at Turner Park at Midtown Crossing
This year the Nebraska Wind Symphony is proud to host 8 different wind and percussion performing groups in the first ever Community Band Festival of the Midlands. Please join us for 8 hours of free concerts featuring local performing groups. Check out our website for more details.

Affordable Family-friendly musical entertainment
Our formal concert series is a great buy for people of all ages. Children under 12 are free. Students and Senior Citizens receive half-price admission. Our programs feature a variety of musical styles; marches, overtures, film and stage, programmatic, and exciting newer music specifically for the unique sounds available from concert band instruments. Local guest artists are featured as instrumental and vocal soloists, conductors, and narrators. We'd love to see you at an upcoming concert at our current home venue, the Omaha Conservatory of Music.

Middle School All-Stars
Each year we invite middle school band directors to nominate players to participate in a group performance of two instrument feature selections at our Winter concert. The featured instruments vary each year. The students are coached by a noted area instrumentalist and see how band music can remain a part of life well beyond their school years.

NWS Memorial Scholarship/Solo competition
Annually we award a scholarship to a student who plans to participate in instrumental music as part of their college education. The winning student performs with NWS at our Spring concert. This provides the student with a great opportunity to perform in public and the scholarship helps offset some education cost.
