Acappella Omaha Chorus of Sweet Adelines International has been in existence since 1956. Currently, under the direction of Annette Wallace, the 33 member chorus rehearses every Monday night at 7 p.m. (except holidays) at Remington Heights Retirement Village, 12606 W. Dodge Road. Singing a cappella harmony in four parts: bass, baritone, melody or lead, and tenor, the chorus' purpose is to advance the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education and performance.
Members may attend Sweet Adeline regional music schools to advance their skills and Sweet Adeline vocal coaches travel to Omaha to conduct workshops or retreats to advance members' skills. Regional competition once-a-year provides opportunities for further performance enhancement experiences.
Acappella Omaha Chorus typically performs locally, with choreography, and MC material at local charity events, church services, civic events, senior residential facilities, and sporting events such as Stormchaser games. Two fundraisers, a fall show and spring salad luncheon and style show, provide organizational funds.
