Solutions to Poverty comes through work experience at the Cross Training Center. We provide hands-on job experience, vocational training & character development so people can become employed. Our students are those who have been incarcerated, homeless, involved in gangs or substance abuse, victims of human trafficking or who live in poverty for numerous other reasons. They gain working knowledge, confidence, character and skills so they can overcome barriers to employment and become successful.

We operate small businesses that are primarily ran by our students so they gain valuable work experience in real life settings. Our students are youth and adults who lack work experience and who have lived in poverty all their life are involved in every aspect of operating the non-profit and our business operations so they learn a diverse range of skills and experiences. We help them overcome the challenges of poverty and enter the workforce.

We recycle electronics, refurbish computers and other electronics, repair large appliances, operate a retail store where these items are sold, operate a full service auto repair shop, and have a social hall business. Each of these business operations offer various opportunities for our students to learn and develop skills that are useful in all industries.

Our recycling operation accepts anything with a cord or a battery. These items are either refurbished or recycled so nothing goes to the landfills. We kept over 400,000 pounds of electronics out of our landfills in 2015.

As an Authorized Microsoft Refurbisher, we provide high quality refurbished computers to many households, businesses and other non-profits at affordable prices. Our students learn valuable skills that meet high standards while refurbishing computers and working in the retail store to sale these items.

Our auto repair shop provides quality auto repair services to the public. Our mechanic students work along side certified mechanics to learn valuable skills. We accept donated vehicles and small engine equipment that are used for training purposes so our mechanic students receive hands-on experience.

We have a social hall where our students learn hospitality skills and attain experience. Students are assigned jobs in janitorial, yard maintenance and much more. Everything we do is for the purpose of providing work experience for our students.

We provide support services to help our students overcome challenging backgrounds and life circumstances. Real workplace experience creates an environment for a high rate of job placement and job retention. Our students are able to enter a career field and become self-sufficient and successful in the home, workplace and community.
