The Fairmount Park Neighborhood Association was formed in 2007 by a couple of neighborhood residents whose primary quest was to "get to know" our neighbors. We wanted to establish a sense of community within our community and focus on helping others and neighborhood beautification. Our neighborhood includes the Park/Glen Historic District and borders the Historic 100 Block in Council Bluffs, Iowa
More than eight years later, we are still going strong and have dozens of members. We begin each calendar year with our annual meeting; a get together in a neighborhood home, where we share a meal, recap and reminisce about our accomplishments over the past year, and look forward to the year ahead. Our annual activities include participation in Clean Sweep; cleaning up the neighborhood streets and right-of-ways in conjunction with Pride Week. And each spring, we hold our Lookout Point cleanup. We hang our flower baskets from each Sternberg pole in time for Mother's Day, host our annual picnic at Lookout Point. We hold our annual Holiday Party, as well as membership meetings in neighborhood homes throughout the year.
We award the "Yard of the Month" from May to September and name the winner of our exterior holiday decorating contest each December; the winner's name and address is added to the traveling plaque. Each December, we also award the FPNA "Person of the Year".
The FPNA garage sale and its ever-popular bake sale are held bi-annually.
