Care and Share House, Inc. is a free food pantry and free store with two locations in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The mission of Care & Share House, Inc. is "To feed and clothe the people in need within our community while treating them with dignity and respect."
Care and Share offers two locations with one pantry/store at 1808 5th Avenue with morning hours and one at 600 South Main with evening hours. A food pantry with a four day supply of nutritionally balanced food is available to individuals and families at no cost once every 30 days in cooperation with other food pantries in the city. The free store offers clothing, coats, and shoes for children and adults as well as a variety of household items. Clients can shop at anytime at the free stores.

Care and Share House, Inc. is operated completely by volunteers. There is NO paid staff at all. Donations will go directly to provide client services!

In 2016 Care and Share provided free food pantries to 3,907 families for a total of 10,295 people. Many, many more people shopped at the free stores throughout the year as well.

The majority of food is purchased through Food Bank for the Heartland. Last year Care and Share purchased 81.6 tons of food. Additional food items were donated by individuals, churches, schools, and community and business food drives. Items for the free store are provided entirely through donations from individuals and churches.

The Iowa West Foundation has generously provided $20,000 in Challenge Funds to be shared by participating nonprofits it recognizes as being based in or providing services in Pottawattamie County five days per week or more and meeting their funding criteria.
