Care and Share House, Inc. is operated completely by volunteers. There is NO paid staff at all. Donations will go directly to provide client services!
In 2017 Care and Share provided free food pantries to 3,994 families for a total of 10,649 people. Many, many more people shopped at the free stores throughout the year as well.
The majority of food is purchased through Food Bank for the Heartland. Last year Care and Share purchased 80.7 tons of food. Additional food items were donated by individuals, churches, schools, and community and business food drives. Items for the free store are provided entirely through donations from individuals and churches.
Care and Share prides itself on being an excellent steward of community donations!!
The Iowa West Foundation has generously provided $20,000 in Challenge Funds to be shared by participating nonprofits it recognizes as being based in or providing services in Pottawattamie County five days per week or more and meeting their funding criteria. These funds will be distributed based on donations coming from Pottawattamie County.
