Underwood Dollars for Scholars® is a scholarship foundation to expand access to educational opportunities for graduates of Underwood (Iowa) Community Schools. Since 2009, Underwood Dollars for Scholars has awarded $59,050 to 121 graduates, and our organization is supporting more than 20 scholarships for Underwood graduates of the Class of 2016.

The organization is locally operated and supported, non-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)3, and operated by an all-volunteer Board of Directors.
Rising costs are closing doors to higher education for many individuals in our community. Through Dollars for Scholars we have the opportunity to make a strong, collective statement about the importance of education beyond high school. We can boost educational attainment through both encouragement and financial support for our local students.

Our organization has provided $500 scholarships to most recipients, and began awarding a $2000 scholarship to one graduate of the Class of 2015, which we will also award to a member of the Class of 2016. All financial support from Omaha Gives will go directly to student scholarship support. Our goal is to increase the amount awarded to additional students.
Just reviewing the notes received with checks for our December 2014 letter campaign, and energized with comments like "Glad you are doing this. Happy to help" from a member of the Class of '36, and "How wonderful! Please accept this small gift that could do someone a lot of good" from a member of the Class of '68.
