Keipos uses food, farming and education to transform lives. That means we: grow food, feed people and transform hearts.
In 2017, we will be growing food for 60+ families in need on two new Papillion Keipos Gardens. We will be working with the city of Papillion, the Juvenile Justice Center in Sarpy County, the Garden Givers Group, the Tri-City Food Pantry, and Heartland Family Services to distribute the food and provide classes to the public. We will also be providing programming and education at our local juvenile detention center.

Keipos uses food, farming and education to transform lives. That means we: grow food, feed people, and transform hearts. Some of the ways we will be accomplishing this in 2017 are...

We will grow food:
*Install two new gardens- one VEG (Volunteer and Education Garden) patch at Heartland family Service and a separate community garden off 1st Street in Papillion, NE
*Use regenerative and organic agricultural practices
*Some of the crops grown will be: tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, potatoes, carrots, onions, kale, lettuce, spinach, beets, radishes, corn, cucumbers, squash, pumpkins, etc!

We will feed people:
*Use the produce to create a community supported CSA program
*Produce enough food to feed 60+ families
*Donate any remaining produce to other charities
*Provide monthly community meals at Heartland Family Services

We will transform hearts:
*Offer classes on food preparation and preservation, nutrition and organic farming to the families receiving the CSA boxes
*Provide on-campus programming to at-risk youth at the Juvenile Justice Center
*Create community service opportunities for youth detainees at the two garden sites
*Work with volunteers to give back to their community
*Offer an internship program in which students will learn about sustainable farming and caring for the land
