Basset and Beagle Rescue of the Heartland
Our organization is devoted to rescuing and rehoming bassets and beagles in Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri and Iowa. BBRH also puts great emphasis on educational efforts regarding these breeds and responsible pet ownership. May 24th we'll be at Dudley's Pizza & Tavern (2110 S. 67th Street in Aksarben Village - 402.933.751) from 11am-5pm with volunteers and rescue dogs! Catnip and Tails Rescue, Inc.
Catnip and Tails Rescue is a registered non-profit (501c3) animal rescue organization. We are state licensed in both Iowa and Nebraska with the Department of Agriculture. We rescue homeless/abused/neglected/abandoned animals from high stressed situations. as well as those animals that are in danger of being euthanized at a shelter.
Doberman Rescue of Nebraska, Inc. is a non-profit organization which rescues Dobermans from shelters, owners who cannot or will not provide for them and those who are strays whose owners never try to locate them.
ET FARMS ANIMAL RESCUE AND SANCTUARY
ET Farms Animal Rescue and Sanctuary believes that ALL animals deserve a furever home. We are dedicated to finding the forgotten and unwanted animals in our care a home no matter how long it takes. We are also an animal assistance group. Our mission is to help as many pets as possible to remain with their families. Feline Friendz in Nebraska
Feline Friendz in Nebraska was founded in 2002 and is a 501(c)3 cat rescue organization. Our organization is made up entirely of dedicated volunteers. We work to control the stray and feral cat population by the humane method of Trap Neuter and Return (TNR). Feline Friendz works with several veterinarians in the Omaha Community to offer low cost spay and neuter of cats.
Golden Retriever Rescue in Nebraska
Happy Tails, Golden Hearts - GRRIN is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and placement of Golden Retrievers in forever homes. For 25 years GRRIN has placed over 1,200 dogs in wonderful "furever" homes. All of our work is carried out by volunteers who give their time to transport dogs, screen potential adopters, man our phone line, and open their homes to a foster dog that will ultimately be adopted by a loving family.
Great Plains Pointer Rescue
Great Plains Pointer Rescue was founded in 2008. Initially we were "German Shorthair Rescue of Nebraska". We soon started helping in Iowa and Minnesota and have wonderful breed loving non paid volunteers in all states. Here at Great Plains Pointer Rescue, we take pride in helping German Shorthairs and Pointers in many situations. All of our dogs receive full vet care in our program from minor to major medical issues. Our main goal is to find loving and committed homes for our dogs.

The Greater Omaha Cage Bird Society (GOCBS) is dedicated to, and "Striving for the Preservation of all Cage Birds".
Hands, Hearts and Paws
Hands, Hearts and Paws is a non-profit dog rescue group. We rescue, rehab, fully vet and rehome dogs. HHP rescues from puppy mills, kill facilities and owner surrenders. We love our rescue dogs, care for them in foster homes, until fur-ever homes are found.
Heartland Cats provides a safe and loving sanctuary for older cats that might otherwise be running out of options due to age, medical problems and/or loss of home. Our no kill, limited admission facility, works with the community to prevent needless euthanasia by offering short and long term care, adoption, foster, hospice, and educational programs. The programs we offer not only benefit the cats in our care, but also benefits our community.
Heartland German Shepherd Rescue, Inc.
Heartland German Shepherd Rescue (HUGS) is a licensed, all-volunteer, foster home-based, 501c3 non-profit dog rescue organization. We operate out of the Omaha, Nebraska area. Our focus is to save German Shepherd dogs at risk of being euthanized in shelters or in other dire situations. Our Mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and place the dogs we rescue in permanent, loving homes.
Hearts United for Animals
The Hearts United for Animals no-kill shelter and the HUA Omaha Adoption Scenter feature 400 dogs for adoption, ones who would not have survived without our help. They were rescued from puppy mills, needed extensive surgeries to make them well, were abandoned or abused. Other programs include low cost spay/neuter, emergency medical care for dogs or cats whose owners cannot afford to save their lives, educational programs & temporary housing for pets of families fleeing domestic violence.
Helping Hand for Animals
Each pet that we rescue has an individual person overseeing them. Each animal rescued is fully vetted, microchipped, assessed and rehabbed to the best of the ability of our volunteers and certified trainers. Homeward Bound in the Heartland
Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, foster and re-home abused, neglected and abandoned animals. We transfer animals from high-stressed situations to temporary foster housing and provide medical attention until matched up with a loving fur-ever home. In addition, we help people in need with assistance to enable them to keep and care for their pets.
Hooves & Paws Rescue of the Heartland
At Hooves & Paws Rescue of the Heartland we rescue & rehabilitate abused, starved, neglected & unwanted Horses, Donkeys, Mules, Dog's & Puppies. Following rehabilitation we place such animals in loving, forever homes. If for any reason they can't be placed due to behavior and/or health issues they will remain with us at our No-Kill Rescue/Shelter for the rest of their life.
Little White Dog Rescue
We provide the opportunity of life for small breed dogs; many of which have been forgotten, neglected and discarded. Dogs join our pack in many ways including intake from breeder releases, shelters (high kill and no kill), owner surrenders and strays. Many members of our pack have very serious medical issues that cost thousands of dollars to address. Regardless of cost and health conditions we will never withhold the chance of a happy life, it is with your help that we can give them hope!
Lusco Farms Rescue
Lusco Farms is the only rescue in Nebraska and Iowa specializing in donkey rescue. We are a 100% unpaid volunteer organization driven by passion to make a difference. Our efforts have impacted the lives of 170 animals since 2011. Donkeys are Special, are you special enough to be a friend?
MidAmerica Boston Terrier Rescue
Our Mission: To rescue Boston Terriers and Boston mixes that are surrendered/unwanted, homeless/stray, mistreated/neglected, slated for euthanasia or puppy mill released, no matter their health, condition or age, finding them safe and happy forever home through an adoption program that provides foster care, medical care, rehabilitation, and education. In 2016 we took in 265 Bostons and Boston-mixes. We have saved more than 3,100 Bostons since Nov 2006

Midwest Dog Rescue Network
Midwest Dog Rescue Network started in 2007 with a group of dedicated animals rescuers. We are an all-breed and mix-breed 501c3 non-profit dog rescue licensed in the state of Nebraska. Regardless of breed, we try to save as many dogs as we can from overcrowded shelters in need of help and commercial breeding facilities known as "puppy mills." We have no employees so all proceeds go directly to the care of the animals including all medical expenses and supplies for the dogs.
Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue
Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue exists to provide a second chance to dogs and cats who have been discarded. By the time they reach our care, the second chance we give them is their only chance. RAINA came to us after being blinded by pepper spray trying to protect her owner from an attacker. MILA was a breeding dog who suffered a ruptured uterus and received no vet care. MERCY was almost blind, had heartworms and an injured leg. Won't you be a part of giving an animal a second chance?
Nebraska Border Collie Rescue, Inc.
Nebraska Border Collie Rescue is a 100% volunteer run organization dedicated to saving the lives of Border Collies and Border Collie Mixes in and around Nebraska. Dogs in our care are fostered in individual foster homes where they receive love and care before being placed for adoption. We are always in need of volunteers, fosters, and donations. Thanks to our family of supporters we have been able to save lives since 1999!
Nebraska Boston Terrier/French Bulldog Rescue
Nebraska Boston Terrier/French Bulldog Rescue's mission is: To rescue Boston Terriers and French Bulldogs (and their mixes) that are unwanted, homeless (stray), mistreated and/or neglected. We take them in no matter what their age or health and we will address any mental, medical or physical issues each dog may have that caused him/her to be surrendered or abandoned by putting them in a home based foster program to provide that care and rehabilitation.
Nebraska Dachshund Rescue
NDR has saved over ONE THOUSAND dachshunds since it was formed in the fall of 2007 by dachshund lovers. Hearing of dachshunds in kill-shelters, being surrendered by families, retiring from puppy mills, etc...who deserved a second chance at life...the rescue was formed. NDR is dedicated to helping abandoned, surrendered, abused and neglected dachshunds. Providing a safe, loving foster home. Educating owners on responsible pet ownership. Finding forever homes for dachshunds in need.

The Nebraska Rescue Council is a nonprofit coalition of state-licensed groups formed to educate the public about animal rescue and to encourage families to adopt, not buy. The Nebraska Rescue Council was formed, so that independent, state-licensed, animal shelters and rescues can work together to promote one another, reduce euthanasia and provide information to the public about our organizations. We want to tell you how you can get involved and educate others.
